DolceQ (Massimiliano Panzironi)
Interview with Massimiliano Panzironi
What message(s) do you want to express through your work? Well… Actually I’m mostly focused on representing what it comes into my… One of the elements recurring in my artworks is undoubtedly the female character, her sweetness, sensuality and fugacity and my style is a continuous search for all those elements. In my works I try to depict the most seductive and sensual elements of the female character, I try to imagine her dreams, and suggest settings which can bring the viewer to something undefined through the stimulation of his imagination and thoughts.
Which artists inspire you? Who are your masters? The artist I consider to be a perfect example of sensuality and erotism is undoubtedly Gustav Klimt, but I like Alfons Mucha as well, whose style is probably closer to the concept of sensational graphics. They do inspire me a lot.
What have you gained by being on the internet?I love working in internet because I feel close to the world I live in and have the opportunity to get in touch with other people. By being on the internet I can share my works with many other people all around the world, but being at home working on my g5. And it happens that people from the opposite side of the world drop me a line via email just to say that they love my works! It’s amazing!
Did the internet enable you to meet new models, to find new exhibit places?Mmm… Actually yes, I met some amazing guys from www.genuineromanart.com. They live here in Rome and organize exhibitions to showcase the best of contemporary roman art. Now we are friends sharing the same passion for graphics and we try to join our efforts in doing new projects together. If is there any designer who’d be interested in trying to do something together… Please get in touch with me, we’ll try to do something!
What projects mean a lot to you at the moment?Currently I’m working on a very interesting and ambitious project… My intention is to develop DolceQ life style into a total immersion in my seductive and sexy world, an experience involving the whole habitat!!! In the next days the new version of my website will be released, with many new works I made for some Italian and international magazines, some works from exhibitions held in Italy, collaborations and events, and a new on-line shop. Between September and October some works will be exhibited in Rome and London (currently in London too) and I’m planning to be at the Design-festa event in Tokyo for 2007.
Could you tell us a few words about the place you live/work in?I live in Rome, which is the capital of Italy. It’s a very romantic city, full of history and I definitely love it… But it’s not the best place to work as a graphic designer. Many agencies are more focused on big projects just to earn profits, they don’t care about the quality and the style of the work… And Rome is not ready to invest in new projects and young people… But I think the most important thing is to do my best always and everywhere I am, right?!
